The Confucius Institute in Bergen

Confucius Institute in Bergen was founded September 29, 2007, with start-up January 2008. With the permission of the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), a cooperation was initiated between Beijing Sports University, Høgskulen på Vestlandet and The University of Bergen. The result is the establishment of Bergen Confucius Institute in 2007.

The Institute aims to increase the level of competence about China and its language and culture here in Norway. Furthermore, it is also our wish to promote exchanges between China and Norway in education, science, sport, arts and industry.

Wushu plays a big part in our promotion of Chinese culture and is what this webpage is all about. We are working to offer different classes within Bergen and with an emphasis on learning more about Chinese traditions through martial arts. As the only institute in Norway associated with the Confucius network, we have relationships and competencies that differ from other institutions and academic communities.
